As we entered the church the priest told us NO PHOTOS; which is not what we want to hear as photographers…at all! So after a bit of cheeky humour and debate he agreed to let us photograph during the 1st and 3rd hymn. Great but not ideal; it gave us the chance to photograph the guests without disturbing them during the service but missed the looks, glances and emotion of the service itself.

Now as we have entered the priests church we have to respect his wishes but also we have been hired to do a job, and one of the most important parts of the wedding day is the wedding itself! So with this in mind and my clients best interest at heart I went about trying to capture a few moments that would be remembered forever……at the same time without getting told off in front of 100 guests by the priest.

The shot below is the result of a few frames fired off as our happy couple took their first kiss as husband and wife. It has received a great deal of positive feedback on our Facebook page and concretes my defiant view, and working more for our couples than a priest who “had a bad experience with a photographer once” 20 years ago!

This image is all about Penny and Jeremy. Their love for each other was so obvious throughout the day and nothing or no-one was going to get in the way! Throughout the ceremony, the signing of the register and the day they couldn’t keep their eyes off of each other. This photo is the start of that as Penny joined Jeremy and they held hands for the first time that day!

Enjoy the photo, it tugs at my heartstrings and I can’t help but smile each time I see it.

Claire and Sam are our very last so simple wedding clients and have seen us change and grow when they booked us nearly two years ago. We had a lovely chat about our first meeting and the changes that have taken place since their booking as we had a drink before the shoot. It will be sad to see the final end of so simple weddings with Claire & Sam’s wedding in May but with Vickerstaff Photography entering into its second year we have a lot of exciting times ahead of us.

We thought we would take this chance to wish all of you a very Happy Easter. We hope you have a really fantastic weekend whatever you may be doing, and don’t eat too much chocolate!!! (I know I will!)

The hour just flew by for us and we hope for our fab couple too! After a short shopping spree and a bite to eat it was back to the Hilton for a viewing session of the worked photos and a good chat about the wedding plans so far.

With a good idea of the big day over a cuppa (or a cheeky glass of wine for Lisa) it was time to say goodbye to them both.  We can not stress how important our E-Sessions are, we have got to know Lisa & Stewart a great deal more and have a detailed plan of the day, Now our very happy couple know exactly how our shoots go on the day and will be pros before they know…yes even you Lisa!

I love this shot, it captures a really beautiful moment. Becky is taking some time out to compose herself and take a step back from the overwhelming emotions of the day, overlooking what were fantastic views from the venues. She was probably also really thankful to be inside where it gave her skin a chance to thaw out and to regain the feeling in her toes!

Moments after this shot was taken her groom Guy joined her and they were officially announced into the dining hall as Mr and Mrs Owen.

As Jeremy repeatedly stole glances of Penny and they sat closer and closer holding on to each others hands not wanting to let go; we listened to Jeremy’s heart felt proposal, and Penny’s impression of a duck. It’s a long story, but it had us in hysterics as well as lots of ooohs and ahhhs from Tory.

Penny and Jeremy were the first couple to experience our new Engagement session (you can see the pictures here) included in all packages, it was wonderful to see the two of them together the first photo was through no doing of mine other than taking the picture, I knew from then on that the wedding photos would be the easiest I would ever have to take. They just engulf themselves in each other, nothing seems to matter or bother them when they are in each other’s company and we just had to capture that.

The wedding day went as expected, and foretold by our happy couple. A very happy, stress free and joyous occasion where Tory and I were made extremely welcome by all. By building a relationship with our clients (made possible by our E-Sessions) we are able to join the festivities and blend into the crowd, which isn’t always easy with a camera and lens like mine.

Penny and Jeremy’s family and friends had come from all over the country and world so pinning them down for pictures wasn’t always easy but when we managed to steal them away for a bit; we so enjoyed watching them together, their love and appreciation for each other really is infectious and left Tory and I holding each other close as we left the Zoo leaving the party to continue.

The wind was blustering causing a great chill so our happy couple did a great job looking so warm and content. They truly are a couple deep in love; we really enjoyed photographing them! Watch this space for the full wedding.

We look forward to going back to the Zoo soon, it really is a wonderful and unique venue.

I have chosen this image for my image of the week partly because I love daffodils (and it is daffodil season, so the perfect time for it really), but mainly because it is a truly beautiful little moment between Richie and Taln. He looks so proud of his beautiful wife and their love for each other is clearly evident.

Enjoy my favourite image of the week, it has never failed to make me smile each time I look at it.
