Wedding Photography: Maria & Kevin, Peckforton Castle
I had the fortunate pleasure of returning back to the idyllic location of Peckforton Castle a couple of weeks back for Maria and Kevin’s wedding, and the weather was perfect to boot as well!
Before we could take in Peckforton’s surroundings we met Maria, her bridesmaids and mum at the ‘Beautique’ and ‘Just Hair’ shops in Chester, both are great locations for hair and make up shots; especially Beautique with their huge window allowing lots and lots of light….lovely! Maria took to having her photo taken in no time, by not one but two photographers (Peckforton saw me experimenting with a second shooter and Luke worked very hard capturing some great shots). The atmosphere was perfect for bridal prep shots; fun, laughter and after an unexpected Vimto some champagne!
With more coverage of the bridal preps than usual Luke and I headed over to Maria’s house for some detail shots, and to meet the rest of the family all busy getting ready. With the smell of pizza in the air we set to work (with envy and a rumbly tummy!) first the flowers, then the dress and finally that special moment when father sees his beautiful daughter in her wedding dress for the first time.
With no time to rest; I was off to Peckforton to shoot Kevin and his best man (briefly before the registrars stole him from us!) and to await Maria’s arrival in a fabulous old fashioned Bentley, well you have to arrive in style to a castle don’t you think?!
I have shot a number of weddings at Peckforton and it is always different: the ceremony, portraits shoots (there’s sooo many locations to choose) but also events through the day. Maria and Kevin chose to have the falconry whilst the guest shots were taken, then a one to one with a golden eagle; a hugely unique experience for the guests but more importantly for us, the photographers: the opportunity for some great shots of some beautiful birds of prey and guests enjoying the spectacle.
When you get to meet such lovely people and photograph in what is quite literally picture perfect locations this really is the best job in the world!! I hope you like the photos please feel free to leave any comments.
