Wedding Photography: Helen & Kevin at Chester Zoo, Cheshire

I was lucky enough to bring in the New Year in the incredible location that is Chester Zoo, it is the second time I have had the pleasure to photograph a wedding here this year (please see my previous blog posts to see Abi & Chis’s wedding).

For the first time ever the Registrars arrived before the groom, but arrive he did, even if a little late and I soon realized the day would be a nice relaxed affair. Kevin, despite being a little nervous was a true gentlemen and helped me make a start on his sizeable group list despite there being only 26 guests. We got through the family portraits and then prepared ourselves for Helen’s arrival. I think Kevin had to prepare himself more than me but I set about choosing some locations and shots once Helen arrived at the Oakfield Lodge.

The happy couple looked, well, happy to be together and so the ceremony proceeded without a hitch. With having a few guests the ceremony was intimate and so a joy to be a part of. After which I had to conclude Kevin’s group list, one reason I ask for a list is if it is large the guests can blame the couple if its cold!

I always love taking the newly weds for a short photo session, not only so I can get some shots of the two together but it is also the first time as a married couple they get to be together and as the photographer you get to be there when the love is at its upmost and nothing else matters to them. This is often portrayed in the photos with absolutely no encouragement from me.

Helen and Kevin were a joy to spend New Years Eve with if only for a short time; you can see nothing but a wonderful smile on Helen’s face in all the photos. I left them to enjoy their wedding breakfast and the rest of the day. I hope they had a wonderful New Year.
